Blue Windows Bistro

Mari Vivet and her French American husband and chef Christian have been sharing their love of authentic French food for six years at Blue Windows Bistro in South Ft. Myers.
The Bistro opens at 5 p.m. most Tuesdays through Saturdays. This quaint, romantic and adult dining spot fills up quickly with only 10 tables. There is a twilight dinner menu that includes two choices of appetizer, salad, six choices for entree and two selections for dessert for $30 per person. You must be seated at 5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Entrees included: steak-frites, coq-au-vin, sauteed shrimp tomato provencal and Idaho mountain trout. There is a prix fixe dinner for $44 per person. They also have a regular menu with chefs specials. The wine list is extensive. Blue Windows Bistro hosts monthly wine dinners featuring varietals from all over the World. The space is also available for private parties. A must dining experience. The service was excellent and the chef makes his rounds at all the tables.

The Veranda

Nestled in the heart of downtown Ft. Myers is a quaint upscale restaurant called The Veranda. Once you arrive, the service starts from the valet to the hostess to your server. You are dining in the beautifully maintained homes once owned by the Pulizer family. Seating is varied from being almost in the dining room of the house to little alcoves with views of the garden. Open for lunch and dinner, The Veranda also caters and holds private parties. For dinner, start with an appetizer of oysters rockefeller, escargot, grit cakes or salad. Specialities come with a house salad and corn muffins served with pepper jelly. Featured items southern fish sampler, filet, ribeye, veal chop,rack of lamb, prime rib, salmon, grouper, chicken and veal. Chateaubriandn serves two with a blend of vegetables on the side. All desserts are made in-house and are to die for. Fresh berries with cream, triple layer chocolate pate, peanut butter fudge pie, key lime pie, bailey’s cheesecake and warm southern pecan praline tart topped with vanilla ice cream.

Siam Hut Thai Restaurant

Looking for something out of ordinary with a spice connection? Try Siam Hut Thai in downtown Cape Coral located on Del Prado Blvd. This is a calming place with great atmosphere and authentic Thai food. Start with spring rolls, thai toast, chicken drummets and thai tea served with lemon wedges and an artistic flair. The wonton soup is delicious and offers another starter option. Siam Hut is best known for their Pad Thai with a variety of add ins like tofu, beef, pork, chicken, squid and shrimp. This is a wonderful blend of stir fried rice noodles with sweet basil, mixed veggies and chili paste. For even spicer items, try the curry selections. Select a meat and vegetable in the stir fried sections. Specialties are duck royal, frog legs, and egg foo young. Fish options are fried and topped with everything from curry to ginger, pineapple and mushrooms. All plates are appealing to the eyes. Open for lunch and dinner. Take out available.
